New legislation has been introduced in Massachusetts that would include windshield repair within the definition of a service contract. The legislation includes the “repair of small motor vehicle windshield chips or cracks which may include the replacement of the windshield for chips or cracks that cannot be repaired” within the broad new definition of a service contract. The bill is a redraft of two bills relating to motor vehicle service contracts that had been sitting in committee, thus signaling compromise language that has a better chance of advancing in the legislative process. The same windshield language had been included in both previous bills.
