Florida Bill Could Require Windshield Inspections

A bill has been pre-filed in the Florida state legislature that could require inspections of damaged windshields prior to insurer authorization of a windshield repair or replacement.

The bill in its current form proposes to add the following language to Section 1, Section 627.7288, of the Florida Statutes:

A policy under this section may require an inspection of the damaged windshield of a covered motor vehicle before the windshield repair or replacement is authorized by the insurer.

The bill was pre-filed by Rep. Rene Plasencia on November 28.
