Auto Glass Week™ 2021 is just around the corner and with it come several competitions. Of the four competitions that take place, three have registrations that are still open. The competitions will take place Monday, June 7 through Wednesday, June 9 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. The awards ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 9 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Auto Glass Technician Competition (AGTO)
The AGTO is designed to honor the technician who completes the best automotive glass installation. With a first place prize of $10,000 on the line, competitors will be judged on their professionalism, knowledge; and proper product, equipment and tools usage as well as proper auto glass removal and installation procedures and techniques. The deadline to register for this competition is April 23, 2021.
Windshield Repair Competition (WRO)
The WRO is designed to recognize the technician who performs the best windshield repair. Not only does this event bring the best in the business together, but it raises the industry standard for repair. The first prize winner will receive $5,000, a trophy and the bragging rights of being the “2021 World’s Best Repair Technician.” Competitors will be judged on their professional attire, preparation of the vehicle, proper use of tools and products, quality of the repair technique and appearance of the complete repair, and their in-depth knowledge and ROLAGS® proficiency. The deadline to register for this competition is April 23, 2021.
Auto Glass Calibration Competition
The Auto Glass Technician Calibration Competition, sponsored by Opti-Aim, is designed to find and honor the auto glass technician who completes the best auto glass calibration. The technology behind Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) often makes calibration of the ADAS system necessary after a windshield replacement. This competition will focus on the proper methods and technology used in such calibrations. With a chance to win $5,000 the competitors will be judged on their in-depth knowledge, calibration assessment and preparation, material assembly and placement, static calibration procedure and post-calibration procedure.
