Legislation has been in the introduced in Wyoming that would alter the insurance code definition of a “service contract” as it pertains to automotive glass. Presently under Wyoming law a Service Contract INCLUDES the repair of chips or cracks in a windshield but expressly EXCLUDES windshield replacement. Under the proposed legislation, HB 232, an agreement for the “repair of small windshield chips or cracks in or the replacement of the entire windshield as a result of damage caused by road hazards” would be considered a “Service Contract” under Wyoming insurance law. The bill also brings leased vehicles into the Service Contract law.
