A Washington senator recently introduced a bill that “relat[es] to the installation of safety glazing or film sunscreening materials.” The bill aims to create a $500 fine for “a mechanic or commercial installer of safety glazing or film sunscreening material who installs, for monetary or commercial gain, safety glazing or film sunscreening material in violation of [the state’s window film law].” It also makes violating this law a misdemeanor.
The bill, S 5881, was introduced on February 8 and referred to the Senate Transportation Committee.
