At Auto Glass Week™, I was speaking with a representative of an Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) Registered Member Company that had been recently validated. As I was leaving, the representative said, “See you in three years!”
My thanks to this person for providing me with the topic for this article: “Restarting the Validation Period – or What, You Again?” The fact is, this company could be validated again next year.
The selection process works like this. The validation period is approximately four years. Within each four-year period, at least one location from each company is validated. So in 2015, we will select one location from every Registered Company. We will plot these locations on a map, group them by location, and then validate them in random order over the next four years. It is theoretically possible (though very unlikely) for the last company validated in the last period to be the first company selected for validation in the next period. As before, each selected location will be notified by the AGSC approximately 70 days prior to their validation.
When the 2015 validation period starts in February, the validators will continue validating to the ANSI/AGRSS 002-2002 Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard (AGRSS®), and will continue to discuss the upcoming changes to the Standard with the companies they are validating. The plan is to give everyone approximately one year after the publication of the new Standard to prepare to be validated against it.
