o Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) has a number of programs and logos that insurers should be familiar with. First, there’s the AGSC Registered Member Company program and logo.
AGSC Registered Member Companies have agreed to comply with the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS™ Standard, which addresses proper procedures, education and product performance. Companies that register with the AGSC agree to undergo random, on-site third-party audits at least once every four years. Only AGSC Registered Member Companies are permitted to use the AGSC Registered Member Company logo (shown at right).
The AGSC also has a technician certification program, which includes both an Accredited General Technician and Master Auto Glass Technician program. For the General Technician accreditation program, the technician is classified as either a Certified Technician (who works for an AGSC Registered Member company), or a Qualified Technician (who does not work for an AGSC Registered Member company).
The Auto Glass Safety Council’s Certified Auto Glass Technician certification examination is an online examination consisting of 70 multiple choice questions. Requirements include knowledge in OSHA regulations, all types of auto glass replacement, NAGS and custom-cut laminated glass parts.

The Auto Glass Safety Council’s Certified Master Auto Glass Technician certification examination is an online examination consisting of 50 multiple choice questions, allowing an average of three minutes per question to answer. Technicians must have experience and knowledge in OSHA-required employee safety regulations; conducting all installations according to the current AGRSS™ Standard, intermediate-level automotive electrical testing and troubleshooting procedures and equipment; OEM sunroof repair and replacement techniques; advanced wind noise and water leak diagnosis and repair; and current standards and regulations that apply to the auto glass industry. To be eligible for this exam, technicians are required to have 3+ years in the auto glass industry, hold an unexpired General Auto Glass Technician certificate, and be an employee of member companies.
Only AGSC Accredited Technicians are permitted to use the Accredited Technician patch, and Master Auto Glass Technicians are permitted to use the Master Auto Glass Technician patch.
