Washington Window Film Bill Sent to Governor

A Washington bill that “relat[es] to the installation of safety glazing or film sunscreening materials” recently was sent to the state’s governor for review.

The bill, S 5881, aims to create a $500 fine for “a mechanic or commercial installer of safety glazing or film sunscreening material who installs, for monetary or commercial gain, safety glazing or film sunscreening material in violation of [the state’s window film law].” It also makes violating this law a misdemeanor.

The bill was introduced on February 8 and referred to the Senate Transportation Committee. It passed the Senate on March 6. The House passed an amended version of the bill on April 15. The Senate concurred with the amended bill on April 27 and it was sent to the Washington governor on April 30.
