Applying to become an Auto Glass Safety Council™ (AGSC) Registered Member Company may seem like an overwhelming task, but it really is not. When all of the application materials are submitted properly, the process flows rather smoothly.
The documents that must be submitted in order to become an AGSC Registered Member company are the:
- Application to Become a Registered Member Company with payment;
- Attachment B-Declaration of Standard Conformance; and
- Eight deliverable documents.
The most common problems with applications that we receive are:
- Attachment B has not been fully completed indicating conformance to the ANSI/AGSC/AGRSSTM 003-2015 Standard in all areas; and
- Copies of the eight deliverable documents either are not included or deliverable documents are missing.
The Attachment B–Declaration of Standard Conformance is a self-audit of the company whereby a company certifies that it complies with the current ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS™ Standard. In order for Attachment B to be accepted and approved by AGSC, all of the items must be checked with a “yes.” If a company cannot answer “yes” to every item, a company representative should contact me and I will be more than happy to assist with any questions the company has, provide clarification regarding the AGRSS Standard requirements if that is needed, or recommend an individual whom the company can contact for assistance.
The company must also submit a copy of all eight deliverable documents mentioned within Attachment B and noted on the Deliverables Checklist (the last page of Attachment B). Most urethane manufacturers have provided a deliverables packet in their technician training manuals or the company can contact their urethane manufacturer’s representative for assistance. The company does, however, need to follow the instructions provided in the deliverables packet in order to provide the correct deliverable documents.
When all of the application materials have been submitted by the company, the application process moves fairly quickly. It normally takes two to three weeks from the time the completed application is received by AGSC until the time the company receives its registration approval packet which includes a letter of approval of registration, a certificate of registration for each of the company locations submitted with the application, and a sampling of AGSC marketing materials.
As always, should a company representative have any questions regarding the application process or the documents required, feel free to contact me at 540/602-3263 or kbimber@agsc.org.
