AGRSS™ Standards Committee Forms ADAS Subcommittee

May 21, 2016

The AGSC AGRSS™ Standards Committee recently voted to form a subcommittee to focus on the topic of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

“There has been much work being done on the ADAS issue and that consists of mostly fact-finding,” says AGSC AGRSS™ Standards Committee chair Bob Beranek, president of Auto Glass University. “There has been a wealth of information coming in concerning the issue but much of it is that no one knows the facts. We get reports from glass people, dealerships and other interested parties but none of it coincides with each other.”

Beranek says that the AGSC recently began extensive research on this subject “which will allow us to get the facts directly from the manufacturer.”

He adds, “This information will be our basis of fact that we will build on. The research and documentation will take a while to complete and maybe some of the information will be unclear but I am confident that we will have something to work with by Auto Glass Week™ 2016.”

The subcommittee includes Beranek; Peter Brown of Tiny & Sons Glass Co.; Gary Hart of the Independent Glass Association; AGSC legal counsel Bill Ives; Debra Levy of AGRR  magazine; Paul McFarland of LYNX Services; Erin Taylor of Glass Reconditioners; and George Weller of City Auto Glass.

The full AGSC AGRSS™ Standards Committee will next meet on Wednesday, October 5, from 7 to 9 a.m., at Auto Glass Week in San Antonio. The meeting will be held at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter.
