Jeff Olive Joins AGSC

Noted industry installation expert Jeff Olive has joined the Auto Glass Safety Council (AGSC) staff as Director of Quality and Training. In his new role, Olive will manage AGSC's Company Accreditation (auditing) Program, develop and manage training, and provide enhanced safety services to members.

Florida Bill Eliminating Assignment of Benefits Signed into Law

Last week, the Florida bill that will end Assignment of Benefits (AOB) was signed into law. The new law became effective on May 25 and AOB agreements are prohibited starting July 1.

Maryland Calibration Consumer Protection Law Enacted

The Maryland Governor signed the state's new auto glass calibration rules into law on May 8. The new law, which was passed by the legislature in April, goes into effect on October 1.

On June 1, 2023, Massachusetts began enforcing its Right to Repair law after a lengthy delay of the 2020 Act, which passed with overwhelming support via voter referendum, due to federal litigation brought by an automaker-backed group.

Plan to Attend the AGSC/NWRD Annual Member Meeting

The AGSC annual meeting is a great way to stay current on all that AGSC has to offer. This year, our guest will be Dean Bruce of Ford Motor Company. Dean oversees the newly created Ford Certified Glass Network and will be there to explain the program and answer all questions. The meeting will be held Tuesday, September 19 at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. An AGSC Member Mixer and Cocktail Party will follow it at 5:30 p.m. The agenda is as follows:

Auto Glass Week Hotels Selling Out

Hotel rooms are going fast and the first Auto Glass Week hotel is sold out. The Fairfield Inn is sold out and no longer available. Rooms remain at the Doubletree, the Hilton and the Sheraton. All four hotels are on the Auto Glass Week bus route. A chart of the different hotels and their amenities is available HERE.

Auto Glass Week also has a promotion in place until the end of the day Friday, June 30th that allows you to buy three full registrations and get the fourth one free. What a great way to provide education to all your employees. The promotion is in place through June 30th and will not be repeated. Sign up at www.autoglassweek.com.

Beware of Scammers

The AGSC office has received reports from at least one member being called by the "Safety Council Service," telling them their membership has expired and that they should sign up through the caller. This is a scam. If you have any question about the validity of a phone call or email, please call the AGSC office at 540-702-7484 for verification. Please also let our office know if you receive such a call.

Happy Fourth of July

We wish all AGSC members and their families—both company and personal—a wonderful Fourth of July. In celebration of the Fourth, our offices will be closed Monday and Tuesday, July 3rd and 4th and will reopen the morning of July 5th. Have a safe and happy holiday!
