Revised AGRSS Standard Approved by ANSI
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved the recently revised ANSI/AGSC/AGRSS 004-2018. The AGSC's AGRSS Standards Committee had adopted the calibration-related revisions earlier this year.
AGSC Committees Meet, Career Day held at Auto Glass Week™ 2022
The Auto Glass Safety Council and its National Windshield Repair Division conducted a series of Board, committee and member meetings at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Tex. immediately before Auto Glass Week.
Bud Oliver Receives Auto Glass Industry's Highest Honor
Retired industry veteran Bud Oliver received the industry's highest honor. The Carl F. Tompkins Award for Auto Glass Safety is sponsored by the Auto Glass Safety Council. It is named after long-time industry veteran Carl Tompkins.
AGSC Participates at GHSA Annual Meeting
Immediately following Auto Glass Week, AGSC president Mike Schenian and public affairs director Seth Maiman travelled to Louisville, Kentucky, to participate in the annual meeting of the Governor's Highway Safety Association (GHSA), a 650-person conference attended by representatives of state and national safety groups.
AGSC Certification Required for Technicians Employed by AGSC Registered Member Companies
It is a requirement of AGSC membership that all auto glass replacement (AGR) technicians employed by AGSC Registered Member Companies be AGSC certified technicians.
AGSC Welcomes Your Participation on Committees
AGSC has several committees, including two Standards Committees, that can always use more volunteers.

Calibration-Related Legislation Discussed at Auto Glass Week
"Calibration-Related Legislation to Affect Your Business" was the topic of an Auto Glass Week 2022 education seminar conducted in San Antonio in September and led by AGSC officials President Mike Schenian, ADAS Committee Chair and Board member Jacques Navant and Public Affairs Director Seth Maiman.

Hyundai to Notify Customers of Recall on Friday, Oct. 14
Hyundai Motor America will send out safety recall notifications this week to owners of the 2020-2021 Hyundai Palisade. According to documentation submitted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there is an issue with the windshield wiper motor, which could reportedly become inoperable and cause the wipers to fail.
New Subaru Outback and Impreza Recall – Windshields Could Detach in a Crash
Subaru of America is recalling specific new 2022 Outback midsize SUV and 2022 Impreza compact models for improper windshield attachment. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Subaru reports it may have applied the wrong clear coat to the windshield during the assembly of the two models, which can cause the windshield to be insufficiently bonded to the vehicle.
Tesla to Recall Nearly 1.1 Million Vehicles over Window Automatic Reversal System
Tesla Inc. has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will perform a free-of-charge, over-the-air (OTA) software update with respect to the window automatic reversal system on various models from 2017-2022. The safety recall may affect as many as 1.1 million vehicles.
NHTSA Considers Allowing Vehicles without 'Transparent Glass'
The National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) has extended the Public Comment period to September 21 on petitions that Ford and General Motors filed in July to advance their development and use of vehicles using self-driving features.
