Mississippi House Passes Bill Restoring a Provision Scheduled to be Repealed on July 1

March 2, 2020

The Mississippi House has passed a bill that would restore a provision of insurance law, scheduled to be repealed on July 1, requiring an insurer paying a claim to include the repairer or the lien holder on the check. The bill text was amended in the House to eliminate the repeal date entirely instead of merely extending it to July 1, 2023 as was in the bill as originally introduced. The bill now goes to the Senate for consideration.

Text of House Bill 691, as passed by the House, is available here.
