A bill introduced in Louisiana that prohibits bad faith acts by insurers against their claimants includes a provision preventing insurers from forcing their insured to use a particular business for auto glass repair or replacement. Section H(1) of HB 976 states “When making a payment incident to a claim, no insurer shall require repairs be made to a motor vehicle, including window glass repairs or replacement, in a particular place or shop or by a particular entity.” The bill has been referred to the House Insurance Committee.
