Insurance Collusion Bill Introduced in South Carolina

March 3, 2022

A legislative proposal in South Carolina would specifically prohibit glass companies from conspiring or colluding with automobile insurers regarding vendor rates. Insurers would also be prohibited from entering into agreements with a company that establishes a price that must be satisfied by a repair shop to do claims repair work for the insurer and then retains a percentage of the claim. Additionally, the bill would prohibit insurers from directing more than half of its claims to vendors that are not South Carolina owned companies.
