The governor of Idaho has signed a bill that updates the Idaho Motor Vehicle Service Contract Act into law. According to a summary of the bill, “the proposed legislation moves the authority to enforce the Act from the Attorney General to the Department of Insurance.”
In addition, the legislation, H 521, clarifies the definition of a service contract to expressly authorize several types of contracts, including “contracts to repair or replace windshield damage by road hazards.”
The bill was introduced to the Idaho House of Representatives on February 9. The bill passed the House of Representatives on February 21 and passed the Senate on March 7. The governor signed the bill on March 19.
