Century Glass Hosts CE Classes for Local Insurance Agents

December 7, 2017

Century Glass has been offering CE classes for insurers for more than eight years.

AGSC Registered Member Century Glass of Columbia, S.C., hosted two continuing education (CE) classes for 40 local property and casual licensed insurance agents in October. Among those in attendance were two representatives from the South Carolina Department of Insurance and two members of the South Carolina House of Representatives.

The main topics discussed were the importance of a properly installed windshield and understanding the importance of choosing an auto glass shop with AGSC Certified technicians to replace your vehicle’s windshield. Industry veteran Joel Timmons of Profitable Glass Solutions taught the class and addressed the added benefits of an insured choosing an auto glass repair shop that is an AGSC Registered Member Company.

Timmons explained to the insurance representatives in attendance that vehicles with ADAS may require re-calibrating after a windshield replacement and that choosing a glass shop that understands how to address these re-calibration needs is important to the occupant’s safety. He also detailed the mission and purpose of the AGSC and why it is important that insurance agents be able to educate their policyholders about choosing an auto glass shop with AGSC Certified Auto Glass Technicians.

Century Glass has been offering free CE classes for more than eight years.

“The agents who attend our classes gain valuable information about the auto glass industry and they appear to retain the information better than if they take the classes on-line from home,” says Jennifer Cannon, sales and marketing representative for Century Glass. “Our classes allow for open discussion in real time with an experienced and knowledgeable instructor of the auto glass industry.”

Cannon says that in addition to inviting agents, she personally reached out to local state representatives and invited them to attend the class, in hopes they would share the information with their colleagues.

“The state representatives were unaware of the importance of a properly installed windshield and did not realize the number of shortcuts that could be taken by other glass shops who are not certified and third-party monitored by the AGSC,” she says. “They were grateful to learn about the AGSC and appreciated the educational resources available to them through the AGSC website.”

Agents and state representatives were given an AGSC folder, filled with AGSC literature and marketing materials found on the AGSC website. These materials are available online for any AGSC Registered Member Company.

The course Timmons offers is approved for CE credits in the states of Colorado, Florida, Michigan, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas and the commonwealth of Virginia.

Other members interested in offering this course to insurance agents in their area should contact the AGSC office at 540/720-7484, ext. 137.
