Rep. Josh Cutler has reintroduced his AGSC supported auto glass replacement safety bill in the Massachusetts House for the 2023-2024 legislative session. The bill, patterned after the Maryland 2021 auto glass safety law, is the same as Rep. Cutler’s 2022 legislation. It would direct the state registrar of motor vehicles to establish standards for aftermarket auto glass replacement that would “meet or exceed the standards or requirements of the Automotive Glass Replacement Safety Standard, developed by the Auto Glass Safety Council ….” The bill defines “aftermarket safety glass replacement” as motor vehicle safety glass replacement services that occur after the original installation by a vehicle manufacturer.

This bill is an important one for auto glass safety in Massachusetts. Massachusetts companies, please contact Seth Maiman at smaiman@glass.com for more info.
